S-Cubed Shoutout from new user-During the Pandemic!

This has been a tough year for choral music educators all around the world, but there are many success stories to be heard and shared!

Ashley Ricks contacted me in April of 2021 after getting to lesson 7 of S-Cubed Sight Singing Program and getting some wonderful remarks at her statewide choral adjudication on how well her students were doing with their tone and pitch...during a pandemic no less...and part of the time she was on maternity leave!

Congrats to YOU and your students Ashley!  This is a huge testament to your focus and determination.  Keep it up!

Here is the email she sent to me-

Hi Dale,

I just wanted to share an SCubed success.

I am new to my schools, district and state this school year. I took over a middle school program that has had a new teacher every year for the last 4 years (it’s an 8th & 9th grade campus). I also took over the high school program fed by the middle school. The teacher retired after 30 years at the same campus. There hadn’t been much focus on literacy on either campus. We’re fortunate to have been in school all year, and singing with masks.

I purchased the full SCubed program in November. I started using it with both schools in late January when I returned from maternity leave. My high school concert choir went to region choir festival (adapted for covid of course) this week. They received 3 superior ratings overall, but specifically high marks in the area of intonation from the judges. On the bus home as I read the comments to the kids. One yelled “We hit the bullseye!!” when I read the superior in intonation. They’ve worked super hard, and I know that our improvement in that area has a lot to do with SCubed. Thanks!! (BTW- we’re only on lesson 7 because I’m going SLOW and we meet every other day.)

It all made me smile, and gave me hope at the end of a long week. Hope it makes you smile, too.

Sincerely,
Ashley Ricks
