Another Sub Plan from Mr. D- It can last 50 minutes or two weeks or more!

When I taught public school, getting a sub and creating meaningful plans was always tough.

Many times, I just went to school instead of taking care of myself when I was sick.

Not good.

That is why I have been working on creating sub plans for teachers of chorus and general music classes.  Some of these sub-plans can be used by social studies, drama and language arts, and business teachers who love music and want to include music in their teaching as well.

And best of all, each one of these sub-plans can take 50 minutes or two weeks or more because I have included numerous extension activities that include creative writing, acting, planning budgets and so much more.

And even better, they can be used by YOU, the teacher in the classroom.

So, we've got many options.

I've worked to create great value for you because I know how hard you work and how busy your lives are...especially if you are also trying to save time to be there for your family.

If you've followed my work for any length of time, you know I love Broadway.

So, this lesson is focused on Broadway musicals....the history...the business...the perfomers who've made it there...

As always with these sub plans/real class plans, I've included videos and questions about the content.  All documents are editable.  In this lesson, I've included 4 activities with videos and more than 20 extension activity suggestions for you if you need or want to extend this lesson's value for you or for your music or non-music sub.

First, we explore the history of musical theater starting with Greek Theater.

Then, we learn about the day in the life of a Broadway star.

We move on to learn about the physical layout of Broadway itself (Geography and business).

Lastly, we learn about business.  The numbers...what makes a Broadway show successful?  How do investors recoup their investment?  What is the percentage of success?  How many investors does it take?

We cover the dream and art of it all...and the business side of Broadway.

And it can take 50 minutes for you...or it can take two weeks or more in just one lesson.
